Lombok. MINI is organizing a remarkable media drive experience, designed especially for 10 media outlets, to participate in the three-day MINI HOPPING program from 21-23 September 2015. The participants will get the chance to enjoy the MINI go-kart feeling while  driving along the beautiful coast of Lombok, as well as experience creatively thought-out activities that allow them to get to know more about the MINI brand values.

“MINI is all about driving FUN. It’s a one of a kind design icon which, most importantly, never fails to put a smile on our customers’ faces,” said Jodie O’tania, Head of Corporate Communications BMW Group Indonesia. MINI is more than a car – it is sometimes perceived as a friend or even a family member by MINI owners. The objectives of the MINI HOPPING – a yearly program initiated by MINI Indonesia - are to introduce the unique design hallmarks of MINI along with its driving FUN, impressive power and efficiency - all in an informal and friendly setting. “The latest MINI models encapsulate a unique new design, typical go-kart handling experience, greater engine power as well as practicality through spaces. We would like to invite our media friends to leave behind their daily routines and learn more about our MINI models in Lombok,” added Jodie.

MINI will provide its latest  models  for the media's use throughout the MINI HOPPING event . These models include the MINI Cooper S 3-Door; the MINI Cooper S 5-Door; and the most powerful MINI ever, the new MINI John Cooper Works 3-Door.

Lombok is an astonishingly beautiful Indonesian island located between Bali and Sumbawa, known for its striking beaches, towering volcano Rinjani, and a host of other intriguing attractions. Our media friends will find themselves immersed in the lush forested landscape of the island, and get a true feeling for its amazingly diverse people and geography.

MINI Connected.

Meanwhile, MINI Connected brings all the functionality of a smartphone directly into the MINI. It uses a USB interface to incorporate the various  smartphone features  into an audio and infotainment system, where they are easily accessable via the central display. The functions are operated via the MINI Controller. 

The range of MINI Connected functions and apps is constantly expanding. Social media services are now fully integrated into the vehicle. Also, the driver’s smartphone data allowance is used, meaning no additional network subscriptions are required.

Functions which can be integrated into the vehicle via apps in the areas of social networks and infotainment are available for both the Apple iPhone and for smartphones using the Android operating system. The MINI Connected program provided through smartphone apps includes vehicle-related functions such as Mission Control, Dynamic Music, Driving Excitement and MINIMALISM Analyser, as well as online-based services such as a web radio function, the use of social networks  the reception of RSS news feeds and entertainment features such as AUPEO! and TuneIn. As such, it offers a complete in-car infotainment solution. With the colour display in the central instrument panel, all functions can be operated in typical MINI style - and more comfortably, intuitively and safely than ever before.

A new MINI Connected ready App enables GoPro cameras to be controlled in typical MINI style, using the operating system of the model in question. This makes it possible to start shooting videos or taking photographs with a GoPro camera mounted on or inside the car while travelling – another exciting MINI development. Meanwhile, owners of an Apple iPhone can download the new MINI Connected ready App free of charge from the Apple App store. 

The MINI Cooper S 3-Door.

The characteristic three-way separation of the body corpus, all-round greenhouse and roof, together with a new take on hallmark design features, define the exterior of this new generation model, which has grown by some ten centimetres in length. The extended adjustment range of the front seats, a seat surface lengthened by 23 millimetres, and a perceptible increase in shoulder room provide more foot space and freedom of movement as well as optimised entry comfort for rear passengers. The all-new MINI’s interior offers extended spatial comfort on all four seats as well as a luggage compartment volume expanded by 51 litres to a total of 211 litres. 

For highly-spirited power delivery, the all-new MINI Cooper S is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with a peak output of 192 hp which goes on stream between 4,700 and 6,000 rpm, delivering its maximum torque of 280 Newton metres at 1,250 rpm. Torque can even briefly be increased to 300 Newton metres by means of an overboost function. As a result, acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes just 6.7 seconds, while top speed is 233 km/h. The average fuel consumption of the new MINI Cooper S is 19 kilometers per litre, while its level of CO2 emissions is 122 g/km. These figures comply with the EU test cycle.

The MINI Cooper S 5-Door.

The body of the MINI Cooper S 5-Door is 4,005 millimeters long, 1,727 millimeters wide and 1,425 millimeters high. This makes the MINI Cooper S 5-Door 155 mm longer and 11 millimeters higher than the 3-Door version. The width remains the same. The wheelbase has been extended by 72 millimeters to 2,567 millimeters, while the track is identical to that of the 3-Door version.

Interior comfort has also been enhanced. Thanks to its extended wheelbase, rear passengers now have 37 millimeters more legroom available, while the increased space also allows for a third seat in the back row. Access to the rear is also more comfortable with its two rear doors.

Meanwhile, the luggage compartment boasts a volume of 278 liters, an increase of 67 liters, or around 30 percent, in comparison to the 3-Door model. The vehicle’s high level of versatility is also supported by the 60:40 folding split in the rear backrest. This enables the luggage compartment volume to be upped even further, to 941 liters. 

The petrol engines include turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable camshaft control on the intake and exhaust side (double VANOS). The engines of the MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper models also feature fully variable valve control in the form of VALVETRONIC, as patented by the BMW Group. For top-notch power delivery, the New MINI Cooper S 5-Door is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with a peak output of 192 hp, on tap between 4,700 and 6,000 rpm, delivering its maximum torque of 280 Nm from 1,250 to 4,750 rpm. Torque can even briefly be boosted to 300 Nm by means of an overboost function. As a result, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes a mere 6.8 seconds, while top speed is 230 km/h. The average fuel consumption of the MINI Cooper S 5-Door is 18.2 km/l, while its level of CO2 emissions is 127 g/100km (per average EU test cycle). 

The most powerful MINI ever, the MINI John Cooper Works 3-Door.

Technology for the engine, suspension, body and interior, derived directly from motor racing, defines the exclusive, performance-oriented character of the all-new MINI John Cooper Works. Combined with the further refined product substance of the new MINI, a top athlete has been created for fans who appreciate authentic race feeling, premium quality and a high level of everyday practicality.

The extremely powerful engine, the sports exhaust system, the sports suspension with exclusive 18-inch John Cooper Works light alloy wheels and a sports brake system developed in collaboration with specialist manufacturer Brembo, the John Cooper Works aerodynamics kit including a model-specific rear spoiler and the distinctive cockpit design complete with newly-developed John Cooper Works sports seats comprising integrated headrests all go together to create a precisely-harmonised overall package.

This set of unmistakable characteristics reflects longstanding experience in motor racing and bears witness to the tradition-steeped link between MINI and John Cooper Works. Ever since legendary designer John Cooper discovered the sporting talent the classic Mini presented in 1959, his name has stood for maximum driving fun and spectacular success on the race track with the small and much loved British car.

The power required for this new, top-level fun-driving car is delivered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that was developed based on the latest generation of power units with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology featuring the 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission. The car has turbo charging integrated into the exhaust manifold, direct injection with injectors arranged centrally between the valves, fully variable valve control in the form of VALVETRONIC, as patented by the BMW Group, and variable camshaft control on the intake and exhaust side (double VANOS). It generates a maximum output of 231 hp from 4,750 – 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 320 Newton metres from just 1,250 – 4,800 rpm, taking the new MINI John Cooper Works from stand still to 100 km/h in the blink of an eye - 6.1 seconds - with a maximum speed of 246 km/h.

This represents an increase in sprint capability of 0.2 seconds, or 3 percent, over its predecessor. In addition, elasticity has been improved by 10 percent. With a figure of 5.6 seconds for acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h, the new MINI John Cooper Works even leaves top-class sports cars in the shade. This optimised pulling power is combined with exemplary efficiency. For example, the figures for its average fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in the EU test cycle are 17.5 km/l and 133 g/km respectively– almost 20 percent lower than those of its predecessor.

MINI Service Inclusive and Warranty.

All MINI vehicles purchased from Maxindo come with MINI Service Inclusive, offering five-year or up to 70,000 km free regular maintenance. Starting from January 2015, MINI Indonesia and Maxindo has been providing an extended warranty, from 24 months to 36 months, without mileage limitations. The 36 month warranty applies to all MINI models with a 2015 VIN.
