Jakarta. MINI takes center stage at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) with unique and individual designs that set it apart from the rest of the premium compact vehicle segment. One of the main highlights is the Indonesian Premiere of the new MINI John Cooper Works – the fastest MINI ever. The exceptional standing of the new MINI John Cooper Works is due to the most powerful engine ever installed in one of the brand's serial production models, suspension technology refined with racing expertise and modelspecific design features which not only optimise the car's aerodynamic features but also underscore its racing character.

MINI is also introducing a limited MINI Yours Edition. The unique Exterior Colour ‘Lapisluxury Blue’, the refined MINI Yours leather upholstery, the MINI Yours sport leather steering wheel and more exclusive interior design features make this a collector’s item by nature. Specified as a MINI Cooper S (192 hp), this model doesn’t just have the looks, but also gives its owner the original fast cornering and go-kart feeling. There will only be 10 units of this special MINI 3-door Edition available in Indonesia.

MINI models are on display at the MINI Pavilion, encompassing a total area of 600 square meters. The MINI Pavilion provides a complete experience to all MINI fans who would like to find out more about MINI’s individual designs and high-energy attitude to life – in a unique and exciting environment. At the same time, they can also check out the latest MINI Lifestyle collection and find their match. 

During the 10-day show, the MINI Pavilion will display seven of the latest MINI models, including the new MINI John Cooper Works, the new MINI 5-Door, the new MINI 3-Door, the MINI Countryman and the MINI Cabrio. Also on show will be the MINI Yours Edition and MINI Next. All these models exemplify MINI’s superiority in terms of emotive design, optimised balance between driving fun and fuel consumption, innovative networking technology and clever functionality.

Technology for the engine, suspension, body and interior derived directly from motor racing defines the exclusive, performance-oriented character of the new MINI John Cooper Works. Combined with the further refined product substance of the new MINI, a top athlete has been created for fans who appreciate authentic race feeling, premium quality and a high level of everyday practicality. The extremely powerful engine, the sports exhaust system, the sports suspension with exclusive 18-inch John Cooper Works light alloy wheels and a sports brake system developed in collaboration with specialist manufacturer Brembo, the John Cooper Works aerodynamics kit including a model-specific rear spoiler and the distinctive cockpit design complete with newly-developed John Cooper Works sports seats comprising integrated headrests all go together to create a precisely-harmonised overall package.

Exterior design: instantly revealing the car's sporting performance.

The body design of the new MINI John Cooper Works underscores the performance-oriented yet exclusive character of the top athlete in the small car segment. The front section has strikingly large air inlets which indicate the high cooling requirements of the engine, its ancillary units and the brakes, thereby instantly revealing the car's outstanding performance qualities. The LED headlamps are surrounded by a daytime driving light ring also in LED technology. By activation of the dimmed LED cornering light, city light distribution with more illumination to the sides gives a better visibility in corners while driving at night or bad weather conditions.

Interior: sports car cockpit with new John Cooper Works sports seats for an authentic race feeling.

Due to the increased dimensions, as compared to its predecessor, the new MINI John Cooper Works offers tangibly optimised space on the four seats. Optimum lateral hold in highly dynamic driving situations is ensured by the newly developed John Cooper Works sports seats which boast integrated headrests and model-specific upholstery in Dinamica/Carbon Black leather version. The exclusive standard fittings likewise include the newly-designed John Cooper Works leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons, the John Cooper Works entry sills, the John Cooper Works selector lever, stainless steel pedals and an anthracite roof liner. Innovative driver assistance systems: MINI Head-Up Display with model-specific display content.

The MINI Head-Up Display which is extendible from the instrument panel behind the steering wheel offers an augmented range of functions specific to this model. In addition to information on road speed, current navigation directions and Check Control messages, and lists of telephone contacts and entertainment programs, it is also possible to display the currently selected gear and a multi-coloured engine speed scale which is supplemented with a shift point signal depending on the driving mode selected, so as to enable for particularly dynamic acceleration manoeuvres. 

The most powerful MINI ever.

The power required for this new top-level fun-driving car is delivered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine that was developed based on the latest generation of power units with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology featuring the 6-speed Steptronic sports transmission. The car has turbo charging integrated into the exhaust manifold, direct injection with injectors arranged centrally between the valves, fully variable valve control in the form of VALVETRONIC as patented by the BMW Group and variable camshaft control on the intake and exhaust side (double VANOS). It generates a maximum output of 231 hp from 5,200 – 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 320 Newton metres from just 1,250 – 4,800 rpm, taking the new MINI John Cooper Works from stand still to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds with a maximum speed of 246 km/h. This represents an increase in sprint capability of 0.2 seconds, or 3 percent, over its predecessor. In addition, elasticity has been improved by 10 percent. With a figure of 5.6 seconds for acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h, the new MINI John Cooper Works even leaves top-class sports cars in the shade. This optimised pulling power is combined with exemplary efficiency. Meanwhile, the figures for its average fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in the EU test cycle are 17,5 km/l and 133 g/km respectively– almost 20 percent lower than those of its predecessor.

Together with the hallmark brand concept comprising front-wheel drive, a low centre of gravity, short overhangs, wide track and rigid body structure, the suspension technology on the latest generation of the MINI has undergone extensive further development so as to provide the perfect basis for a thrilling race feeling. The new MINI John Cooper Works is fitted as standard with sports suspension and benefits from the well-established design principle of a single-joint spring strut axle at the front and a multilink rear axle which is unique within the competitive environment, as well as optimised details geared towards particularly high engine and driving performance figures.

Another feature of the new MINI John Cooper Works is the particularly high-performance sports brake system developed exclusively for this model. Designed in collaboration with the specialised manufacturer Brembo, and precisely harmonised with the properties of the MINI John Cooper Works, the fixed 4-caliper disc brakes guarantee a consistently high deceleration performance even when exposed to intensive stress on the race track.

Enhanced safety features.

The passive safety of the new MINI John Cooper Works is also enhanced by the extremely rigid passenger cell, highly resilient bracket structures and deformation zones in optimum design. These form part of the integrated MINI safety concept, as do the standard equipment items of six airbags, 3-point automatic belts on all seats and ISOFIX children's seat attachments at the rear.

MINI Connected High-end features for comfort, functionality and individual style.

Various functions, which can be integrated into the vehicle via apps in the areas of social networks and infotainment, are available for both the Apple iPhone and for smartphones using the Android operating system. The MINI Connected program provided through smartphone apps includes vehicle-related functions such as Mission Control, Dynamic Music, Driving Excitement and MINIMALISM Analyser, as well as online-based services such as a web radio function, the use of social networks such as Foursquare, the reception of RSS News feeds and entertainment features such as AUPEO! and TuneIn. With the colour display in the central instrument panel, all functions can be operated in typical MINI style - and more comfortably, intuitively and safely than ever before.

Pricing, MINI Service Inclusive and Warranty.

The new MINI John Cooper Works is introduced at Rp 829,000,000 off the road. This everyday sports car will be available at Maxindo, MINI’s authorized Dealer in Indonesia, starting from August 2015. The exclusive MINI Yours Edition 3-door is priced at Rp 719,000,000. All MINI vehicles purchased from Maxindo come with MINI Service Inclusive, offering five-year or up to 70,000 km free regular maintenance and a 36-month warranty without mileage limitations.
